Movie :Thandavam
C ast: Mohan lal, Saikumar , Nedumudi , Manoj.K.Jayan
Director : Shaji Kailas
Producer :Johnny Sagarika
Mohanlal’s big budget Onam release Thandavam has crashed miserably
and some theatres in Kerala plan to dump the film even before the
Thiruvonam Day (August 21)! On the second day after the release
itself the collections started nose diving as the word of mouth
spread that the film is lewd and boring. There are far too many
sexy scenes that are nauseating and smutty dialogues that would
put a Shakeela film to shame. So the lady audience are turning away
from the cinema halls.
Mohanlal’s hatchet man Antony Perumbavoor immediately ordered
that the introductory scene of the star in the massage parlour along
with a few girls and some smutty scenes with Anusri be voluntarily
cut from Thursday onwards. Still ladies are refusing to go to the
theatres showing the film.
Johnny Sagarika, the producer of the film, will lose at least Rs
2 crores on this disaster of epic proportion.
Mohanlal should really stop doing such characters which could spell
doom for his career. Understood he has to retain his fans and so
play to the gallery, but does he succeed in achieving that aim at
least? Mohanlal ofcourse does a great job. All the others in the
cast like Saikumar as Shankardas, Nedumudi Venu as Swaminathan,
Manoj.K.Jayan as Dasappa Gounder look bored with their roles. One
wonders why at all Shaji Kailas had to bring in Kiran from Chennai
to do the role of Meenu, a poorly etched and equally poorly presented
character. Sex bomb Mumtaz puts in an appearance and makes the film
more unbearable. No wonder, people who have seen the film have started
equating it with the Shakeela starrers!
Story Line
Kashinathan, who supposedly runs a resort in town, has with him,
a group of youngsters, for all of whom he is sort of an elder brother.
Every time Kashi does something daring, he receives e-mail messages
and phone calls from a girl, who calls herself his 'achchi', i.e,
his wife. Kashi is constantly clashing with minister Shankardas
who, courtesy Kashi himself, is forced to resign following a sex
scandal. Yes, there is of course the ex-chief minister and senior
leader, who runs the State Govt by proxy and supports Kashi in everyway.
( For the umpteenth time Janardhanan, does this part on the screen).
Shankardas musters up all his strength to finish off Kashi. In the
meantime Swaminathan, Kashi's elder brother, who runs a farmers'
cooperative in their village, faces threats from the villainous
Dasappa Gounder, who has his own business interests in the village.
In the meantime the girl who had been following Kashi with phone
calls and e-mails appears before him as Meenakshi alias Meenu, the
daughter of the Police Commisioner. With Dasappa Gounder succeeding
in killing Swaminathan with the help of Shankardas, the film moves
on to Kashi taking revenge and destroying evil forces.
Movie :Kai Ethum Doorathu
Director : Fazil
Producer: Fazil
Cast: Shaanu, Nikitha, Revathy,
Fazil the master of contemporary love stories has launched his
son Shaanu as the hero in his Onam film Kai Ethum Doorathu. There
is nobody like Fazil who can make teenage love stories that work
at the box-office. He knows the essential ingredients of what goes
into a love story- lovers meeting, romance blossoming, parental
opposition and a twist in the climax. Who can forget great love
stories like Manjil Virinja Pookal or an Aniyathipravu? So when
he launches his son he is bound to take that extra care as he took
two years to write the script.
Sachin Madhavan (Shaanu) comes to a hill station where he meets
a girl Sushma (Nikitha) and it is love at first sight. Later he
comes to know that she stays with her aunt and comes from a broken
family. Her father (Siddique) and mother (Revathy) are said to be
separated and living abroad. They want to legally get divorced after
their only daughter gets married. Sachin loves her deeply but never
reveals his feeling, as he comes to know that her parents have fixed
her marriage. Both become great friends and they share a very special
relationship till Sushma’s mother arrives from Kuwait for
her engagement. Sushma however agrees for the marriage provided
her father too comes for the function. But her overprotective mother
assumes that she is in love with Sachin and provokes her to tell
a lie that she loves Sachin. She convinces Sachin also to tell the
same lie and help her to unite her parents. They run away with the
help of Sachin’s friends and stays somewhere away from home.
Slowly Sushma too starts falling in love with Sachin. One day an
advocate Gopi (Mammootty in a cameo role) comes to see them and
agrees to help them. He tells Sachin the truth that Sushma’s
father is dying of some bone marrow disease and his last wish is
to see his daughter married to the guy whom he has selected. So
he hands over Sushma to her mother. The story is told in a flashback
when Sachin is on his way to attend his lover’s marriage as
he tells his past to the co-passengers on a ferryboat who gets hooked
on to his love story. What happens at the marriage forms the interesting
twist in this love story.
Shaanu oozes charm and suits the character of Sachin but he has
to work hard on his dancing. The new girl Nikitha who plays Sushma
looks too mature for the role. Revathy has charmingly switched over
to mother’s role with ease. Mammootty in a cameo role as advocate
Gopi is dignified. The songs tuned by Ouseppachen are melodious
and suits the mood of the film. Camera of Anandakuttan has etched
the director’s favourite Alleppy and Kodaikanal location well.
If you are looking forward to see a clean and entertaining love
story for Onam go ahead and see the film.
Movie :PUTHOORAM PUTHRI UNNIYARCHA
Cast : Jomol, Vani Vishwanath, Kunchacko Boban
D irector: Viswambharan
Kunchacko & Jomol comes with an entirely different (but interesting
too) role. The new young sensation of Malayalam, Kunchacko Boban,
plays a quite different role in this film with Jomol. Another special
thing about this film is that the coming back of the famous Music
Director, Usha Ghanna, into Malayalam after a very long break, who
had become famous among Malayalees through the popular song, starting
with "Nee Madhu Pakaroo".
Aaromalunni (Kunchacko Boban) is the son of the great, Unniyarcha
(Vani Vishwanath), who is the only daughter of the Kannappachekavar
of the famous "Puthooram Veedu". The members of the "Puthooram
Veedu" were always at the top in every martial arts during
that period.
Among the young generation, Aaromalunni had already become the
dream prince of the country. Like that, there was a princess, Kunchikkanni
(Jomol), who was the dream princess of "Kolathu Nadu".
And from the very first sight itself Aaromalunni falls in love with
Kunchikkanni. Moreover, there was so many other factors that can
intensify their love. In the following part, we can see how their
love affair is flowering.
But, unfortunately, some issues are coming on their way and the
director Viswambharan tells that story in a very dynamic, interesting
manner using the same success formula that were applied to any picture
of this type of "Vadakkan Pattu".

Thamara Killi by MG Sreekumar & Chithra- a good song, Sreekumar
& Chithra have sung well in the song. Also a good love song
Unarumee Ganam by Venugopal- in my mind the best song that year,
won best male playback singer for Venugopal in 1988. Also in my
mind the best Malayalam song for Illayraja.
MOVIE: SUMMER IN BETHLAHEM (1997) - AUDIO
REVIEW
Music by Vidyasagar
Lyrics by Girish Putenchery
Label - Sargam Audios
Total in Album - 8
Marivillin sung by Biju Narayanan & Sreenivasan- a song with
a western beat. Could have been better if MG Sreekumar & Yesudas
sung this song. Biju Narayanan & Sreenivasan aren't that good
as the combo of Sreekumar and Yesudas.
Ethryo Janmamai sung by Sreenivasan & Sujatha- slow song Sujatha's
singing is good but Sreenivasan's voice is not meant for this he
is better for faster songs Vidyasagar should have used Venugopal
for this.
Kunnimanikoottil sung by MG Sreeekumar, Chithra & Chorus- The
theme song for this movie with the chorus singing "Summer in
Bethlehem." The best duet in Malayalam does a good job again
in this song.
Oru Rathri Koodi sung by Yesudas & Chithra- 2nd best song in
this movie. Yesudas and Chithra do a good job in this song. Yesudas
is best when doing these kind of songs
Confusion Theerkaname sung by MG Sreekumar & Chorus- best song
in this movie with a fast beat. Was a really popular song. One of
the best songs done by Vidyasagar. MG Sreekumar does a good job
singing this song.
Chula Madichu sung by Chithra- not a great song but fits the movies
song.
Oru Rathri Koodi by Yesudas- same as above with Chithra
Punchillamel by Chithra- not a great song. Don't need this songs
for this movie
MOVIE: MEGHAM (1999) -
AUDIO REVIEW
Music by Ousepachan
Lyrics by Girish Puthenchery
Label - East Coast Audios
Total in Album - 8
Njan Oru Pattu Paadam by Yesudas- a copy of a older Hindi song but
good song sung well by Yesudas.
Thumbayum Thulasiyum by Chithra- one of the best song in the movie.
Chithra at her best solo when singing this song. Video is a good
video too.
Thumbayum Thulasiyum by MG Sreekumar- not as good as the Chithra
version but still a good song to listen to.
Mangu Noolkkum Kaalam by Yesudas & Sujatha- a good version
having chorus singing in Hindi in the back round. This song is average.
Mangu Noolkkum Kaalam by Yesudas- the worse of the two version
Ousepachan should have just done this song with Sreekumar and Chithra
instead of a solo.
Markazhiyo Mallikayo by MG Sreekumar, Chithra & Sreenivasan-
most entertaining song in this movie to listen too and to watch.
This is where Sreekumar is at his best. The video with Mammotty,
Sreenivasan and Priya is great and really funny.
Viliuka Vekum by MG Sreekumar- average song nothing special. MG
Sreekumar is just average.
MOVIE: NIRAM
(1999) - AUDIO REVIEW
Music by Vidyasagar
Lyrics by Girish Puthenchery, Bichu Thirumala
Label - Johny Sagarika

Yathrayayi Sooryankuram sung by Yesudas, Chithra & Vidyasagar-
Good song about the sadness of leaving each others. I think that
this song is great.
Oru Chik Chik sung by Yesudas & Sabnam- Very popular song with
a fast beat. It's a good song you need to see the movie to understand
what the song means because you won't understand without it. Sabnam
who is a new singer does a good job. Yesudas is average.
Oru Chik Chik (Sukriya) sung by Sabnam & Pratap Wadhu- Same
as the song above. A version that is not as good as the version
with Yesudas and Sabnam. Vidyasagar should have used MG Sreekumar
& Sabnam for this song instead of Pratap Wadhu it would have
been better.
Miziariyathe Vannu sung by Yesudas- Overall the best song in the
movie. Yesudas is at his best.
Miziariyathe Vannu by Sujatha- Overall the worst song in the album
Sujatha's voice just doesn't do it for this song. Vidyasagar should
have done what Ousepachan did in Anniyathi Pravu for the song Oh
Priyae he should have had MG Sreekumar sing a version of this song
with Chithra or Sujatha like Oh Priyae in Anniyathi Pravu.
Prayam Nammil by Jayachandran & Sujatha- not as great so it
should receive a state award. Sujatha doesn't have many lines. It
shouldn't have received the state award for Jayachandran because
it not even the best song in this movie.
Minnni Thennum by Yesudas, Chithra- first song from this movie,
fast beat the video is fun to watch but I really don't see the point
of having this song in this movie.
MOVIE: SATHYAM SHIVAM
SUNDARAM(1999) - AUDIO REVIEW
Music by Vidyasagar
Lyrics by Kaithapuram
Label - Johny Sagarika
Total in Album - 7
Surayanny Thazhuki sung by Biju Narayanan- good lyrics and music
but Biju Narayanan's voice just doesn't fit this song. Yesudas should
have sung this song.
Hawwa Hawwa sung by Swarnalatha & Mano- good song with a fast
beat, fun to listen to. Swarnalatha's singing is great in this song.
Mano doesn't have much lines in the song. The video is more fun
to watch in the Angamaly bus stand.
Angagakale sung by Shankar Mahadevan- what was Vidyasagar thinking
when he chose Shankar Mahadevan to sing this song. Shankar Mahadevan's
voice doesn't fit anyone in Malayalam. His pronunciation is incorrect
and during the song his voice doen't fit Boban Kunchacko, Kaithapuram
or anyone else.
Illaman Kannir sung by Hariharan- a song with a mix of English
and Malayalam. Hariharan's English singing is good but his Malayalam
pronunciation is wrong but still a fun song to listen to.
Satyam Shivam Sundaram by Deepankuran- just a copy of the famous
song sung by Lata Mankeshkar nothing new. Deepankuran does an adequate
job singing this song.
Chandra Hri Dayam by Yesudas- great song Yesudas at his best also
Kaithapuram at his best with the lyrics
Suryanna Thazuhky by Chithra- better than Biju Narayanan singing
it that's about it.
Dreamz is not one of those usual run-of-the-mill movies where the
heroine is introduced only as a prop and made to run around trees
and display her assets rather than talent. The heroine in Dreamz
is shown to be a woman of substance and Meena gets the role of a
lifetime in the film.
Shajoon Kariyal devises a most interesting screenplay wherein a
girl seeks vengeance on those who she feels are responsible for
the mysterious death of her lover. Abbas plays the lover boy and
Meena is his fiancee. Rahman and Suresh Gopi are the two people
close to Abbas. When Abbas dies in mysterious circumstances, Meena
assumes that his two friends, who have harboured a secret crush
on her, are behind it. To seek revenge, she starts wooing them so
as to expose their involvement. However, she soon realizes that
the truth is far from what she had imagined.
Dreamz
The central role played by Meena can simply be rated one of her
best. It gives her ample scope to prove her histrionics, besides
exuding oomph. For a change, the heroes -- Suresh Gopi, Rahman and
Abbas -- have nothing much to do in this heroine oriented movie.
But it’s a sure disappointment for Suresh Gopi fans who expect
him to bash up a dozen guys in one go. The cinematography by P Sukumar
makes the film a visual treat and Vidyasagar’s music vibes
well with the tempo of the film.
Audio Review:
In keeping with the current trends, Vidyasagar comes out with some
fast and peppy numbers in this album, but unfortunately Sankar Mahadevan
seems to be a misfit in the whole scene. His numbers Pakkala and
Pakkala padan fail to make much impact. The raunchy number Rathrikal
by Sujatha reminds you of the days when Silk Smitha ruled the scene.
Manimuttathavani by Yesudas- Sujatha and Kannil kasithumba by Jaychandran-Gaytri
are melodious. The best of the lot is Varthinkal by Yesudas, where
the singer is at his best.
Directed by Shajoon Kariyal
Music by Vidyasagar
Lyrics by Girish Putenchery
Songs sung by Yesudas, Jayachandran, Sujatha, Swarnalatha, Shankar
Mahadevan & Gayathri
Also starring Jagathi, Jagadeesh, Janardanan, Srividya etc....
MOVIE: SRADHA
(2000) - AUDIO REVIEW
Music by Bharadwaj
Lyrics by Girish Putenchery
Label - Satyam/Hi-Power Audios
Total in Album - 8
Sradha
Sradha has music by Ramani Bhardhwaj, who has given some good scores
in Tamil films. However, his latest score in Malayalam for Sradha
suffers from a definite Tamil hangover. Megharaga, the very first
song on side A, is a melodious number by Yesudas which gives an
opportunity to the versatile singer to showcase his talent to the
hilt. After starting on this promising note, the music then dips
to a very Tamilish number Onnu thottenay by MG Sreekumar and Chitra.
It is followed by a Tamil gypsy number Cholamaram, again by the
same duo. The next number - Neeyen jeevanil by Chithra - is a pleasant
surprise though. A very melodious number, it lifts you up and has
the singer at her best.
The next side has a good number Adhyanuragam by MG Sreekumar. It
is followed thereafter by a very pedestrian fare like Megharagathil
by Sunanda, a repeat of Onnu thottenay with MG Sreekumar alone singing
it to lighten your burden. Party time by MG Sreekumar, Sujatha and
Sunanda is a slow version of I am a faby girl.
Going by the numbers in the cassette, Ramani seems to be a misfit
in Malayalam music.
MOVIE: VALIYETTAN (2000)
- AUDIO REVIEW
Music by Mohan Sithara
Lyrics by Girish Putenchery
Label - Sargam Audios
Total in Album - 8
The music of Valiyettan fails to live up to the hype created by
the film. The much-awaited audio turns out to be a damp squib. While
the same team -- music composer Mohan Sithara and director Shaji
Kailas -- had churned out hits for Mohanlal's Narasimham, the musical
score for rival Mammootty's Valiyettan is nothing but ordinary.
The first song in the album, Aravathu thiri itta by Yesudas is
a slow number that does no justice to the singer's vocal prowess
and range. Sivamalli by Chitra is the only good song in this cassette
since it has a musical score which is very native to Kerala and
brings out the melody and freshness of the singer. Netimalay by
Chitra is passable. Kannil is a qawwali number with moplah beats
rendered by MG Sreekumar and Afsan. However, it is neither a qawwali
nor a Malayalam song and is hard to decipher. Netimelay's repeatition
as a duet by Yesudas and Chitra doesn't rid it of its ordinariness.
Smaramayi by Jayachandran gives scope to the singer to exhibit his
voice modulation. Chitra's rendition of Aravuthu thiri itta fails
to lift the song out of its ordinariness. MG Sreekumar fortunately
gets a good song in Niranayiponnuil and it is bound to be popular
due to its racy
MOVIE: DARLING DARLING

Music by Ousepachan

Label - Esel Digi Audios
Darling Darling by Hariharan- a song with a good beat, but some
of the lyrics makes no sense but a popular song.
Pranaya Soughandinghanghal by Chithra- one of the best songs in
the movie. The song is sung by Chithra and Santhosh Keshav in the
movie, the album has them separate. A good love song.
Pranaya Soughandinghanghal by Santosh Keshav - one of the best
songs in the movie. The song is sung by Chithra and Santhosh Keshav
in the movie, the album has them separate. A good love song.
Darling Darling by SPB- a song with a good beat, but not as good
as the Hariharan version and also some of the lyrics makes no sense
but a popular song.
Chithiripanthal by Yesudas & Chithra - a good song to listen
to with a very good beat, also a good love song. A good song to
hear in DTS Sound.
Aniyampoo Muttathu by MG Sreekumar & Santhosh Keshav- another
good love song. MG Sreekumar's voice for Dileep and Santhosh's voice
for Vineeth.
Muthum Pavizhavum by Hariharan & Sujatha- average song nothing
special. A good video to watch in DTS Sound.
MOVIE: DADA SAHIB (2000)
- AUDIO REVIEW
Music by Mohan Sithara
Lyrics by Yousef Ali Kechari
Label - Sargam Audios
Total in Album - 6
Mammotty, Cochin Hanifa
Mohan Sithara and director Vinayan pair has already given us the
melodious Vasanthiyum Laxmiyum Pinne Njanum. Where as in Dadasahib,
we have some good music but nothing extraordinary to talk about.
It's Yousef Ali Kacheri's lyric that's worth mentioning.
Side A has Yesudas dominating it with songs like Aliyambal Poove
and lyrics like Cholla Cholla Poove to the gypsy music background.
It's a love song equating the girl to a flower and the moon as her
consort. Next is a passionate song by Yesudas - Yamam Manasil Moham
Pazhayunu Yamam, the lyrics is good but music is domineering.
Next in line is Dadasahib sung by Mohan's daughter Mabina and Yesudas,
is a lively song depicting the father-son affection.
Then there is Chithra's rendering of Yamam & Aliyambal Poove
which have is better than the Yesudas version, the two numbers of
Yesudas again. Thaliyoor Bagawathy, a devotional song by Vijay Yesudas,
MG Sreekumar, Chitra is likely to be a hit for its catchy tune.
MOVIE: KARUMADIKUTTAN
(2001) - AUDIO REVIEW
Music by Mohan Sithara
Lyrics by Yousef Ali Kechari
Label - Satyam Audios
Total in Album - 12
Mohan Sithara and director Vinayan, the duo, have given a hit
Vasanthiyum Laxmiyum Pinne Njanum and now the same duo with lyrics
by Yousef Ali Kechari, the film's songs has hangover of their first
hit. The song Nenjuudikinte .... is similar to Aalillakaana ...the
hit song from VLPN.
Vava thamara penne.. a song about child's play by MG Sreekumar,
Thalam Thalam by Yesudas are examples of the lyricist, director
and singer going hand in hand.
And Yahiradha.. a melodious song by Chithra will be remembered
for a long time for this nightingale's melodious voice. Kalabhavan
Mani the hero of the film sings a song, which goes with the mood
of the cassette.
Chelalulu.. by Jaychandran and Chitra gives the former a chance
to prove his mettle in this otherwise Yesudas dominates the audio.
On the whole the cassette is worth listening because Kachery's
lyrics describing nature and Sithara's use of folk music and Yesudas
giving his best provide some good score.

Madhu Maasam by MG Sreekumar - a typical MG Sreekumar song for
Mohanlal but not for Suresh Gopi. The song is good but just doesn't
fit Suresh Gopi.
Mazha Nilavinte by Chithra - another average song. Between the
words the music is very good. Nothing special
Changampuzha Kavithakal by Yesudas & Chithra - another average
song. Just like Mazha Nilavinte the music is good but with MG Radhakrishnan
you expect some more classical and he just didn't do it
Mazha Nilavinte by Santosh Keshav - same as above but just male
voice. Santosh could be a good up coming singer.

Katte Nee by Chithra - probably the best female song in 2001. It
is a short song. The music is great, the lyrics are even better
and Chithra's singing is perfect. (State Award 2001)
Poomakkal by MG Sreekumar - an average song. MG Radhakrishnan didn't
really have any new music with this song since the music was a repeat
of his famous song in Rakkuyilin Raagasadassil.

Unnathangalil with music by Mohan Sithara has a few good numbers
that keep up to the standards of the music director and keeps a
good melody. And also provides a few good footapping songs too.One
of the best numbers is the Yesudas- Chitra song Muthani Munthiri..
and its sung later by Yesudas solo.
The cassette has yet another number Nakashatranga... by Yesudas
which is very melodious and the singer at his best. This song is
later sung by Ranjini Jose and she too does a good job. This cassette
with 6 songs with lyrics by Girish Puthencheri has a bonus Badhra
's songs 4 in number. None of them are worth mentioning .The music
director is Sakir Jackson

Karutha Ravinte by Venugopal - probably the best song in the movie.
The lyrics are good. Venugopal is back at his best with Johnson
and Sathyan Anthikad.
Vasantham by Chithra - an average song. It has an old tune. If
you haven't seen the video of this song don't bother because they
did a terrible job at it.
Ammayum Nannmayum by Sujatha & Chithra - another average song.
Sujatha sang very well. Chithra doesn't really have much lyrics
in this song. Again good lyrics
Aarorum Ariyathe by Yesudas - a song that is not in the movie.
Alright nothing really special.
Karutha Ravinte by Chithra - same as above but not as good.
Vasantham by Yesudas - do you know how to make an average kind
of up beat song bad right now. Have Yesudas sing it. This is terrible,
if you buy the cassette don't bother hearing this version.
Note: There are 2 songs from Chinthya Vishtamaya Shaymala in the
cassette

Ariyathe by Chithra & Jayachandran - best song in this movie.
Jayachandran's voice is perfect even though I don't think it fits
Mohanlal.
Potu Kuthedi by Sri Ram & Swarnalatha - another good song.
Sri Ram is average. Swarnalatha is very good.
Aakasadeepangal by Yesudas - the biggest mistake by Suresh Peters
& Renjith. Renjith should have used MG Radhakrishnan for this
song, Vande Mukuntha and Thakilu Pukilu to do music.
Aattoram by Sujatha - an average song.
Vande Mukuntha by Nikhil - same song as in Devasuram. Nikhil does
a good job.
Aakasadeepangal by Chithra - read the one above. This version is
better than Yesudas's singing.
Ariyathe by Chithra - not as good as the one with Jayachandran
but still good.
Thakilu Pukilu by MG Sreekumar, Sujatha, Radhika, Mohanlal, Prabhakaran
- A good song. Expected more from this song but still good.

Swapnam Thejichal by Yesudas, Chithra & Ashwathi - an average
sad song.
Kanare Kannare by MG Sreekumar & Chithra - best song in this
movie. Has a good fast beat. MGS at his best here.
Paalinu Madhuram by Yesudas - a good Yesudas song.
Indu Mathi by Sri Ram - don't know what Sithara was thinking with
this song. He probably wanted something like Pottu Kuthedi in Raavana
Prabhu but he didn't
Sharakarra Mukile by MG Sreekumar - another love song.
Swapnam Thejichal by Yesudas - same as above but not as good.
Marikattu by Aneesha - read Indu Mathi but change Pottu Kuthedi

Yaduvamsa by Jayachandran- probably the only song in this movie
that is good.
Hai Hillalin by MG Sreekumar, Swarnalatha - an average song. Good
dance song nothing special about it.
Oru Pattin by Sujatha, Sriram- another average song with good sound
effects.
Sandyakaram by Janaki - a horrible song, but not the worst song
in this movie.
Mukil Mudi by MG Sreekumar - a song which would be successful in
English but not Malayalam.
Hudai Guzal by R Alam, Nikhil and others- I don't see the point
of this song in this movie.
As the film has been entirely shot in Dubai (which justifies its
title), it has a good dose of Hindi ghazals and Urdu couplets. Vidyasagar
has done a good job in the song Khuda ek hi hai sung by new singers,
but the fast racy song Mukin mudil by MG Sreekumar is bound to be
the most popular song of the film. Yet another number by the same
singer is the catchy Veyambal Kannil Neendum. The music can be called
average.

Aaja by Vasundra Das & Mohanlal - lyrics by Murali. The worst
song in the soundtrack with horrible music and lyrics.
Akaleyanengilum by MG Sreekumar - lyrics by Rajendran. an average
love song.
Prakasha Gopurangal by MG Sreekumar, Sujatha & Others - lyrics
by Rajendran. starts out with the famous Anarkali song of Yeh Zindigi.
This song has Yeh Zindigi's beat to it. But the music in between
the lyrics makes this song good.
MOVIE: MAZHATHULLIKILUKKAM
(2002) - AUDIO REVIEW
Music by Suresh Peters
Lyrics by S Rameshan Nair
Label - Superstar Audios
Total in Album - 8
Mazhathullikilukkam
Therirangum by Jayachandran - the best song in this movie. It kind
of reminds you of Ariyathe from Raavana Prabhu but not as good.
Ravinte Deva by Yesudas - an average song. Peter's music is inconsistent.
Velipennine by Srinivas, Sujatha - if you heard Srinivas you know
that he is good for slow songs. Suresh Peters didn't know that so
he used him for this song which made this song a total waste. If
he used Sreekumar, Jayachandran or Unni Menon it would have been
good.
Swargam Nammude by Vidhu Prathap, Others - I don't see the point
of this song. It just plain awful.
Puthuvettam by MG Sreekumar - good song but it has shades of older
songs which were done by others.
Kinavinte by Vishwanath - a good song. It shows that Vishwanath
is a talented singer and should be given more chances. This song
sounds like that he stole this song from another song.
Puthuvettam by Instrumental - nothing there the karoke version
is worthless. Peters should have had Therirangum instead of this.
Ravinte Deva by Chithra Sriram - an average song. Peter's music
is inconsistent a little worse than the Yesudas version.
MOVIE: KUBERAN
(2002) - AUDIO REVIEW
Music by Mohan Sithara
Lyrics by Girish Putenchery
Label - East Coast
Total in Album - 6
Kuberan
Kanaka Chilanka by MG Sreekumar, Sujatha - a good song. The start
of the song reminds you of the song Taal se... from Taal. Then it
sounds like a mapla song but the beats and everything makes this
song the best song in the movie.
Kanni Vasantham by Yesudas - another good song. Starts out with
Kannada lyrics then the Malayalam lyrics. Mohan Sithara finally
realized that he can only give Yesudas slow songs and it worked.
Mani Mukile by Swarnalatha - what was Sithara thinking when he
did this song, nobody knows. Swarnalatha is just plain awful, Chithra
would have been better for this song, its too fast and high pitched
for Swarnalatha.
Oru Mazhapakshi by MG Sreekumar & Sujatha - the start is not
that good. Then it becomes better Sujatha's voice is good and MG
Sreekumar is average his voice and his style is same as in Kanka
Chilanka.
Kanaka Chilanka by MG Sreekumar - same as above.
Kanni Vasantham by Yesudas, Sujatha- another good song and it is
better than the Yesudas only version. Starts out with Kannada lyrics
then the Malayalam lyrics. Mohan Sithara finally realized that he
can only give Yesudas slow songs and it worked.
